The 63rd meeting of the Order's Council was held on January 09, 2025 in Yaoundé under the chairmanship of Engineer Emeritus Kizito NGOA, President of the Order.
All active members of the Council were present or represented.
The assessment of the implementation of the 2023-2026 Roadmap and the 2024 Action Plan were at the heart of the proceedings, and without prejudging the assessment to be made by the General Meeting scheduled for January 31 and February 1, 2025 in Yaoundé, the Council noted several significant achievements or advances:
- the perfect organization of the annual meeting of Civil Engineering Engineers 2024 in Kribi under the theme “Quality Assurance and Quality Control in Civil Engineering”;
- recognition of the civil engineering diplomas awarded by the National Higher Polytechnic Institute of Bamenda (NAHPI), the Institut Universitaire des Grandes Ecoles des Tropiques de Douala (IUGET) and the Institut Universitaire des Sciences, Technologies et de l'Ethique de Yaoundé (IUSTE);
- the evaluation of civil engineering training programs at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Buea (FET), the Institut Universitaire Siantou de Yaoundé (IUS) and the Institut Universitaire de la Cöte de Douala (IUC);
- leading an impressive delegation of engineers to the BATIMAT International Construction Exhibition in Paris, France;
- the first special swearing-in ceremony for Engineers of the Diaspora in Paris, France;
- drawing up a welcome booklet for new members of the Ordre;
- assistance with the professional integration of young engineers
- a survey on the employability of members of the Order;
- organizing training seminars and conferences on civil engineering, supervising site visits and sharing resources and knowledge with members of the Order
- the digitization of the Order's management processes and the launch of CLOSER 3.0;
- production of the first sketches and site surveys, and a business model for the Engineer's Building Project;
- the signing of partnerships with companies in the building and civil engineering sector.
In addition, the Conseil de l'Odre has spared no effort to raise awareness among the general public and public authorities of the essential role of the Civil Engineer in the implementation of projects and programs to ensure the timely delivery of quality, durable, resilient and well-maintained infrastructure, essential to a country's development./-
